Over 12 months, the programme offers young farmers a mix of activity designed to give your farming career a kick start. There is plenty of support to help you make the most of what is on offer and to tailor activity to your specific needs. One of the great things about the programme are the people you meet who help and support one another along the way.

This free programme sponsored by Tesco is open to young farmers between 20-35 to help build their business skills, to learn more about today's fast moving supply chains and to find out from industry experts what they need to know to be successful.

At five, two day workshops you will work on business challenges and problems with your fellow future farmers. We bring in experts from farming, business, media and marketing to help you develop your personal and business skills. Each workshop has a theme and is jam packed with real life problems.  We replicate the workshops in both the North and South of the country.

Workshop 1: Team building and programme introduction

Workshop 2: Business planning and finance

Workshop 3: Obtaining land, succession planning and sustainability

Workshop 4: Marketing and communication skills

Workshop 5: Leadership and final presentations

You can access training from leading training companies across the UK. Training topics are up to you: provided you can demonstrate what you want to study will help you develop your farming career.

Supply chain visits are not just factory or farm tours. You will have the opportunity to meet business leaders, commercial and marketing teams, production experts, and consider new product development. You also have the opportunity to find out how a leading global retailer, like Tesco, works with its supply chain partners to meet the needs of its customers.

Arla, Muller, Branston, Noble Foods, ABP, Cranswick, Hilton Foods, Bayer Crop Science, Dawnfresh and Thanet Earth are just some of the amazing businesses who open their doors and give you a fascinating insight into the workings of modern food supply chains.

Mentors are senior, experienced individuals from the world of food and farming who give up their time to focus on helping you personally and confidentially, to chart your future. It's highly likely that any challenges and concerns you have about the future will have been encountered by our mentors and they will pass on their experience and wisdom to help you to develop.

You  will have the opportunity to take a placement for a period of a week to a month working in a leading food business in the UK or overseas, really getting under the skin of today's supply chain.
