Shearing Competition Announced for NSA Scotsheep 2026

Farmers, shearers and industry professionals from across Scotland and beyond will gather at Wedderlie Farm, by kind permission of the Tilson family, for the much-anticipated NSA Scotsheep 2026 event (10th June), organised by the National Sheep Association (NSA) Scottish Region. Among the many exciting highlights will be the Team Shearing Competition, showcasing the skill, efficiency and teamwork of competitors from across the region.

 

The Team Shearing Competition will be a single-class format, with all teams competing together. There will be no separate Open or Intermediate sections, ensuring a straightforward and competitive structure. Entry will be limited to 10 teams, each consisting of two shearers and one woolhandler.

Teams will be required to register at 12pm and be signed in and ready to compete by midday. The competition will begin at 12.30pm, with proceedings expected to conclude at approximately 4pm.

An entry fee of £20 per team will apply.

Teams will be judged on the quality and consistency of their shearing, presentation of the sheep and adherence to the highest standards of animal welfare. The event promises to deliver a competitive and engaging display of teamwork and professional skill.

Competition Details

Format: One class only, with all 10 teams competing together.
To Enter: Up to 10 competitor entries are welcome, on a first come best served bases and the entries close on Monday 1st June. You can register to enter by contacting event organiser Julia Bell, on 07708 114380 or scotland@nationalsheep.org.uk. When registering, please provide your name, email and mobile number.
Entry Registration & Fees: Competitors, on the day of the event, must register by 12 Noon at the sheep shearing building and pay an entry fee of £20. All competitors will have to buy admission tickets to the event - £20 for adults, free for NSA members.
Team Composition: Maximum of 10 teams, each consisting of two shearers and one woolhandler.
Timing: Registration at 12pm. Competition begins at 12.30pm and is expected to finish at approximately 4pm.
Entry Fee: £20 per team.
Entry Limit: 10 teams (first come, first served unless otherwise stated).
Prizes: 1st prize: £300 each, trophy and sash, 2nd prize: £150 each and sash. 3rd prize: £75 each and sash
