Farming News - George Cornwall joins ProCam

George Cornwall joins ProCam

Leading agronomy firm ProCam has appointed agronomist George Cornwall to strengthen its South West agronomy services.

George has been involved in farming all his life and began milking cows on a local farm before joining an independent dairy hygiene business advising farmers on animal health medicines and livestock vaccines, seeds, fertiliser and feed.

From here, George moved to grain buyer and trainee agronomist, passing his FACTS and BASIS qualifications in 2021 and 2022 respectively, alongside completing an Open University degree in Environmental Science. At ProCam, George will work closely with the farmers in his area and provide support to the regional team.

“Although I’m not from a farming background, I’ve been around farms and farming all my life, and my experience across the industry provides me with a clear picture of the challenges faced by both arable and livestock farmers.”

George is based in Ilminster, Somerset and his area is based around the borders of Devon, Dorset and Somerset, and into the Quantocks. As part of the South West team, he hopes to build his agronomy area further and continue to trial new techniques to improve crop yield and quality.

“The close-knit nature of the ProCam team really attracted me to the business, and I can see the company has a similar vision to my own. The South West is a stronghold for maize so finding new ways to maximise establishment, yield and quality, in the ever-challenging climate, is something that excites me going forward,” says George.
