CFE urges farmers to provide agri-environment data

The Campaign for the Farmed Environment (CFE) is urging farmers to submit important data about environmental management, and this year the data can be submitted online for the first time.

The survey (available here), which opened this week and runs until March 31st 2017 allows farmers to record the voluntary work being undertaken on farms outside agri-environment schemes.

Results are used by the NFU in its lobbying to demonstrate the environmental management carried out by members and how this can sit alongside a productive farm business.

Sam Durham, NFU land management adviser, commented, “Farmers are busy people, but it’s vital we harness information about the important environmental land management work they carry out. The survey takes only a few minutes to complete and by moving it online will help farmers send us this data quickly and effortlessly.”

CFE are also running a series of farm events on habitats and food for farmland birds, encouraging retaining agri-environment options where possible. Events will run in Feb & March & will complement the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust’s (GWCT) Big Farmland Bird Count.

The survey can be taken here.
