Applications are now open for the NSA Next Generation Wool Symposium
National Sheep Association (NSA) is excited to announce that applications are now open for the NSA Next Generation Wool Symposium visit to British Wool, Bradford on Tuesday 6th October 2026. This exclusive visit will include a behind the scenes tour of British Wool headquarters and Haworth Scouring plant.
Applications forms can be accessed at NSA Next Generation Wool Symposium and applications close on Monday 14th September. Up to 12 individuals aged under 35, and passionate about the British wool industry, will be selected to join this unique experience.
The NSA Next Generation Wool Symposium will offer successful applicants a unique opportunity to visit British Wool's headquarters in Bradford and gain valuable insight into the journey of British wool from fleece to finished product.
Those selected will enjoy an overnight hotel stay the evening before the visit, including a two-course meal, providing an opportunity to meet fellow young sheep enthusiasts ahead of the symposium.
The following day, the group will receive a guided tour of British Wool, seeing the full process from start to finish, including grading, marketing and auction. The visit will also include a tour of the Haworth Scouring plant, where attendees will be able to see the full cleaning process and learn more about how wool is prepared for the next stage of its journey.
NSA Technical Communications and NSA Next Generation Officer, Anna Wilson says: "British wool was once the backbone of British farming. It helped to build a successful textile industry, create wealth, develop towns and shape the transport links that connected them. But most importantly, it paid the farm bills.
"While the industry has faced a challenging period in recent years, there is now a real sense of optimism, with exciting developments taking place across the British wool sector. I would encourage any young sheep enthusiast with a passion for wool to apply for this money-can't-buy experience and see first-hand the opportunities within this important industry."
Applications for the NSA Next Generation Wool Symposium are open now. Those interested in taking part are encouraged to apply before the closing date, with full details, including terms and conditions, available on the NSA website.
