Overall 3,677 tractors have been registered in 2020, 862 of which were last month.

January to April stats are down 23.3% compared to the first four months of 2019 in the UK.

The AEA said that a sales dip was always likely as April 2019 had been a very good month as this was when the UK was due to leave the EU.

The AEA pointed out that there have also been delays at the DVLA due to the coronavirus and the temporary closure of several tractor plants such as New Holland and JCB also impacted the figures. However, this is the lowest figure for April since the year 2000 and it is the lowest opening four month start since 2016.

Latest figures are based on sales of tractors larger than 50hp.
