Regional Frontier winter meetings launch with focus on future farm resilience

Growers are invited to attend a series of winter meetings from Frontier Agriculture to hear the latest from the business’ trials programme, as well as discuss crop production and marketing strategies to support confident decision-making for the 2026 season.

Held nationwide at local venues from November through to February, the meetings will give growers the chance to get advice directly from Frontier’s agronomists, farm traders, technical experts and digital specialists while networking with others from the local area.

“These meetings are important forums for sharing learnings and advice for the year ahead,” explains Frontier head of commercial for the south and central regions, Robert Preston.

“The challenges in agriculture today are incredibly wide ranging, and with that comes a huge amount of uncertainty for many growers as they seek to understand the best options for their farms.

“We’ll share practical, locally relevant advice, underpinned by the expertise of our local teams to help growers build more sustainable, resilient farm businesses. The meetings are a great opportunity for growers to meet one another and share in each other’s own experiences and knowledge too.”

National themes with a regional spotlight

While key seasonal themes will feature at the meetings, the insights and advice will be tailored to address the challenges and opportunities specific to the growers in the region, with some agendas also including local guest speakers.

Some of the topics being covered include:

* An overview of grain markets and advice on how best to approach a diverse marketing strategy; including information on local contract opportunities.
* Insights shared from Frontier’s own trials and a look at the research happening for 2025-26.
* Crop production strategies from both a national and regional perspective; including cropping options, navigating the YR15 gene mutation, soil health and farm biodiversity, effective fungicide strategies, grassweed management and building more versatility into crop nutrition programmes.
* The role of digital tools on farm to support efficiency and productivity, with discussions on optimisation through precision farming and the latest developments for Frontier’s MyFarm platform.
* The latest policy updates; with a look at what’s on the horizon as well as a review of agri-environment schemes to date and advice for those in existing agreements. Attendees to the meetings in Scotland will receive a specific update on the Agriculture Reform pathway and comprehensive overview on EFA Enhanced Greening, while growers in England will be able to hear the latest advice on the back of ongoing updates from DEFRA.

The meetings follow Frontier’s series of summer open days where visitors toured trial sites at locations near to their own farms to see how seed varieties and inputs programmes were performing in conditions similar to their own. At a winter event, growers can now return to learn more about Frontier’s research conclusions and recommendations, discover some of the latest agronomic innovations and connect with their local advisors again.
